Zack Snyder teased all of us with the new Batman suit in a tweet more than a month ago that gives us an idea of how he will look in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It was a black and white photo which pretty much tells us that it’s going to look exactly like Frank Miller’s design. So what about the colors? Kevin Smith suggested that it would be blue and gray according to Geek Tyrant like this:
In a recent Fat Man of Batman podcast interview by Kevin Smith with Batman artist and comic book legend, Neal Adams, the artist was asked to comment about Tim Burton’s batsuit. He said, “I don’t like it. I don’t like any of them yet,” perhaps referring to Christopher Nolan’s bat suits as well.
Joe Comicbook of ComicBook.com gives us more detail into the podcast.
Smith pointed to a statue of Frank Miller’s Batman. Smith said, “They’re doing that one for the next movie. Like he looks like that.” Since it was a podcast, video of what statue looked like was not available. However, based on previous comments by Smith, it’s very likely the statue in question was the one we’ve pictured above that was based on a scene in The Dark Knight Returns: Hunt The Dark Knight.
When Adams brought up a fan film where Batman fought the Predator and wore a cloth suit, Smith said, “I tell you, that’s what they’re doing in this new movie Batman movie. It’s him in material. None of this body armor s***.” We've embedded the video below, so fans can get an idea of how Ben Affleck's Batman costume will look like on film.
Smith also added, “And when he wears the cloth suit, you know what’s going to happen? They’re going to make that much more money, because everyone’s going to be like, ‘Did you see the f***ing cloth suit at work, and it works.”
While Smith may not like the body armor, they may actually use it in the film when Batman battles Superman. It won’t be the first time that Batman uses armor and he did use one in The Dark Knight Returns when he went head-to-head with the Man of Steel.
Kit Simpson Browne of Movie Pilot has suggestions as to what type of body armor, the Dark Knight could wear. According to Browne, the options for the film could be an adaptation from one of the following:
- The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller
- Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross
- Arkham Era from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on May 6, 2016.
