The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie has been filled with controversy from the beginning. Early in 2012, producer Michael Bay announced that the title was going to be Ninja Turtles, discarding the Teenage Mutant from the title. This didn’t sit well with the fans who demanded that they make sure that their favorite turtles are both teenagers and mutants. So Paramount decided to return the title back to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to let cooler heads prevail especially after Michael Bay referred to them as “aliens.”
However, an image which Comic Book Movie found of the “Evolution Figure Packs,” toys released for the movie, showed our heroes “evolving” from a “Turtle” to a “Teen” and then as a “Ninja Turtle.”
Does this mean that as a “Ninja Turtle” that they aren’t going to be teenagers anymore? If you look at the image, the “teen” versions don’t look like the movie version which begs the question, “Are they going to be adults in the movie despite the title?”
An update from the CBM website says this:
“We just received an email, directly from Paramount, confirming that the Ninja Turtles will indeed be teenagers in the film.”
So there you have it! It’s time to put these rumors to rest, everyone, and just patiently wait for the movie to show.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be in theaters on August 8, 2014…as teenagers.
